Pro #1 Jobs! The Huntsville Alabama economy is thriving. There are numerous technical and dept of defense type jobs available in the area. Some of the companies include things like Facebook, Amazon, FBI, Google, Northrop Grumman, Toyota, Boeing, Nasa and much more.
Con #1 The weather, you never know what to expect in Huntsville Alabama. It might be summer and winter in the same 24 hour period of time. The temperature can drop drastically when a cold front moves through the area. In the spring and fall you can expect some severe weather. More so in the North western area but Huntsville Alabama has seen its share of tornados. The winter months can bring lots of wet days and occasionally snow or ice.
Pro #2 Location, Huntsville is Located in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian mountains and offers lots of mountainous views and gorgeous seasonal changes. The cost of living in the area allows property owners to still be able to buy in this rapidly growing city at a great price. Just about 2 hours to Nashville or 3 hours to Atlanta and only about 6 hours to the white sandy beaches of the gulf of mexico.
Con #2 Car needed. Yes, you will need good reliable transportation everywhere you go. There is limited public transportation available and Huntsville is a very spread out city. The traffic is busy and it can take a while to get from point A to point B depending on location and time of the day.
Pro #3 Lots to do! As Huntsville advances and changes there is now the Orion theater that offers lots of concerts throughout the year. There is an up and coming arts and entertainment district, art shows, theaters, the the space and rocket center and don't forget space camp! Great restaurants and live entertainment can be found in many areas. Downtown areas have some walk-able areas for restaurants and entertainment. Fall festivals, pumpkin patches, hay rides, art shows, and the tinsel trail just to name a few!
Con #3 Bugs and snakes, yes the weather is just right for bugs, snakes and even rats. You will want to have pest control for sure. We have some big roaches and spiders, you may occasionally see a scorpion and maybe a rattler. The spring and summer can bring out mosquitos so bring the OFF.
